The PROGRESS initiative at Knorr-Bremse includes the conversion of all resource planning systems to SAP. This encompasses all processes ranging from finance and controlling down to the various aspects of operations such as materials management, warehouse management, production planning, quality management, maintenance and sales.

The growth of the Company's worldwide business and the limited functionality of the planning system implemented led us to the decision of harmonizing our worldwide business processes and representing them on a common planning platform. Most of the KB companies (ca. 8000 users) have been converted to SAP by now. All the successful migrations carried out thanks to extraordinary efforts of our dedicated team are part of PROGRESS, so far the largest optimization program in the history of Knorr-Bremse. By the end of 2013 all the current KB locations and companies will be working with SAP. Knorr-Bremse has been one of the first companies to start such a complex harmonization process across different countries and company mergers. Aim of PROGRESS is to support the KB companies to grow together as a single corporate entity.
